2015 GOEL Rules

Here's all the rules and regulations for the 2015 GOEL:Everywhere contest

Two contests in one.

Part one: Each day, beginning June 8, 2015, S'NS, Wheel:Life, iPush Foundation and Life After Spinal Cord Injury (LASCI) will post the name of an accessible point of interest on our Facebook pages. Fans are encouraged to comment on the daily destinations, and by doing so will be automatically entered to be selected to win prizes from a number of awesome items ranging from cool hats to T-shirts, to gift certificates. Your comments MUST be in reply to the specific daily posting. Simply "Liking" the post will not be counted. You can play along on the S'NS Facebook page, Wheel:Life Facebook page, LASCI Facebook page and the iPush Facebook page as often as you like starting June 8 – 21, 2015.

Part Two: The Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere photo contest runs the month of June 2015. From June 1 -31 you are invited to submit photos of your favorite wheelchair accessible hot spots, wheelchair sporting events or recreational activity. Photos should be in keeping with the general theme of the contest of accessible sports, travel and recreation. Submitted photos will be added to our gallery where they will be judged for first, second, and third place. See Prizes and Other Stuff for the list of prizes. Photo contest runs June 1 -31, 2015.

Contest Rules and Guidelines:

By submitting a photo(s), you agree and grant SPORTS ‘N SPOKES (PVA Publications), Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury (LASCI) and iPush Foundation staff the right to publish or use submitted photo(s), name, city, and any captions submitted to our respective websites, social media platforms and/or to be used in future marketing or print publication materials. All photos become the property of PVA Publications and above listed campaign partners and are subject to editing and photo correction procedures. The Get Out, Enjoy Life Contest is open to all persons 18 years of age, except employees, relatives of employees and contractors of PVA Publications, Wheel:Life, LASCI and iPush Foundation. The contest is open to all participants regardless of residence or citizenship, and is subject to the laws of your jurisdiction. Contestants under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian submit photos on your behalf.

How to Submit Photos to the Contest

For photos to be considered for the 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere contest they MUST be submitted to the GOEL photo form. When uploading your entries, remember to tell us something about the photos and when and where the photo was taken.

While, you’re limited to a total 2MB when submitting your photo, remember all photos for magazine cover use should have a minimum resolution of 400 pixels and a maximum of 960 pixels. Photos shot in a portrait orientation are best suited for magazine covers. Keep that in mind if you’re hoping for that S’NS cover shot. Please retain your original RAW or unedited images in the event your photo is selected winning shot. Winning photos that do not meet our production and design resolutions will be placed in the Final Frame section of the magazine and the winner will receive a 2-year subscription to compensate the prize.

Rights

An entrant must hold all rights to a photograph he or she submits to the contest. Photos may not have been previously published in any media outlet, magazine, news outlet, or website. Personal social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the like are exempt provided said photos are held legally by the entrant. For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must retain a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian consent. An image that contains recognizable people will not be selected for an award if the photographer is unable to provide a valid model release upon request.

“Recognizable” means that a third party could identify the individual in the image, due to the visibility of any distinctive physical features, uniform, identification numbers, and so on. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s copyright are not eligible.

Individuals submitting photos into the contest retain full rights to their photos, including ownership, but through the act of participation (entering a photo into our contest and tagging those photos with the appropriate contest tags) will also grant to SPORTS ‘N SPOKES and our partners, Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury and iPush Foundation a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, and display the submitted photos which might include, by example, methods listed below:

The right to publish the image in any format, including on the web and in print publications or presentations, such as newsletters, brochures, fundraising appeals, public service announcements, grant proposals, reports, awards, thank-you cards, displays, mailings and invitations.

The right to provide images to other individuals and organizations for nonprofit, SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, PVA Publications, and/or Wheel:Life, and/or Life After Spinal Cord Injury and/or iPush Foundation related use in news stories, newsletters, reports, slide shows, displays, web pages, wayside exhibits and the like.


The right to use the photo’s title, your name, city, state, and country of residence in our publications.

The right to keep the files provided, and to archive the images on CD or in other electronic forms, so that your photos can be used to support our mission and be properly credited.

We reserve sole rights to eliminate and/or delete photographic submissions to our Facebook group or content that we deem to be objectionable or of dubious provenance. No prior warning or notification will be required. Photos containing nudity, children or animals depicted in a derogatory or dangerous position WILL NOT be accepted.

SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, LASCI and iPush Foundation staff reserves the right to refuse ANY photograph which is deemed unacceptable. Examples of photos we would consider removing without warning are:

Photos that showcase dubious taste or themes.

Photos involving racial or ethnic insensitivities.

Photos involving salacious subjects and presentations.

Photos that are unrelated to the theme of the 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere contest.

SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury and iPush Foundation will reserve the rights to change or modify all text associated with a photo entered into the contest. This would include titles of the photo, accompanying descriptions, and tags.

 

Prizes and Other Stuff

The 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere grand-prize winner will receive a new Panthera X wheelchair courtesy of Triumph Mobility, and contingent on photo quality, the cover spot in the September 2015 issue of SPORTS `N SPOKES. So SAVE YOUR RAW or UNEDITED IMAGES.

Winners will be announced in September 2015. Winners will be informed via phone or email, and prizes will be released within two weeks of announcement.

Entrants may enter as many photos as desired. Please note that a single entrant is not eligible to be declared as the grand prize winner more than two consecutive years.

This contest is void where prohibited by law. The contestants assume the total responsibility of knowing their local laws in regard to photo contests and are subject to any local, state, national or international laws. SPORTS ‘N SPOKES (PVA Publications), Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury and iPush Foundation accepts no responsibility for making these individual legal determinations.

Due to the nature of this contest, mail-in submissions will not be accepted.

Please ensure your information is completed accurately. SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury and iPush Foundation will not be responsible for photos that are mislabeled, misaddressed, electronically lost in transmit, or never received.

Deadline
Submissions for the photo contest will be accepted between June 1 to June 31, 2015. Winners will be officially announced in the September 2015 SPORTS ‘N SPOKES magazine and S’NS website.

Photo Contest Awards

From all qualified photos official judges will select a first, second, and third-place winner.

Three winners total will receive the Get Out, Enjoy Life Prize Pack that includes an S’NS t-shirt, luggage tag, and carabineer packed inside a backpack. In addition, photos may be included in various SPORTS `N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, LASCI and/or iPush Foundation presentations, both online and offline.

 

First Place Photo Winner

First-place winner will receive a new Pnather X carbon-fiber wheelchair courtesy of Triumph Mobility, the Get Out, Enjoy Life prize pack mentioned above, and based on photo quality, the cover spot of the September 2015 S’NS issue. Winning photos that do not meet our production and design resolutions will be placed in the Final Frame section of the magazine and the winner will receive a 2-year subscription to compensate the prize. Triumph Mobility offers no substitutions or exchanges for other products as part of this contest.

Second Place Photo Winner

Second-place winner will receive a new Invacare Top End Pro 2 Sportschair, a complimentary one-year subscription to SPORTS `N SPOKES, the Get Out, Enjoy Life prize pack mentioned above and their winning photo featured in the Final Frame of the September 2015 issue of SPORTS `N SPOKES.

Third-Place Winner

Third-place winner will recieve a new Frequency bodyboard kayak, courtesy of our newest participating sponsor Bellyak, the Get Out, Enjoy Life prize pack mentioned above and their winning photo featured in the "Spoke of the Week" module on sportsnspokes.com.

Participation Award Photo Winner

This is set aside for our contest players who participate the most during the contest. This may include engaging in daily destination post or submitting the most photos. Winners will receive a $200 gift certificate courtesy At Home Medical, a complimentary copy of the September 2015 SPORTS `N SPOKES issue, and the Get Out, Enjoy Life prize pack above. Your photos will apear on our social media cover art. winning photo will be featured as “Spoke of the Week” on the S’NS web site.

 

Judging

The Get Out, Enjoy Life Contest is judged by SPORTS ‘N SPOKES freelance photographers and photo journalist professionals. Photos are judged with no discrimination towards sex, race, or age. All decisions are final.

Photo Judges:

Nancy Crase – As founding publisher of SPORTS `N SPOKES, Nancy has a long and intimate relationship with the readers and athletes of S`NS. For more than 40 years, Nancy’s keen eye (and camera) has captured the spirit of wheelchair sports. You can view her work by visiting her online studio.

Loren Worthington - Loren has been a good friend to SPORTS `N SPOKES as well as the disabled community of Arizona. His love for telling stories through pictures shines through in his bright, crisp imagery of wheelchair athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.

Mary Carol Peterson -  Mary has been shooting sports since the 1990s. Among her impressive resume’ she’s photographed the 1992 Barcelona Paralympics, 1996 Atlanta Paralympics, 2008 Beijing Paralympics and 2012 London Paralympics. She has been published by the BBC, Disability Today, Team Rehab and SPORTS `N SPOKES.

SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, LASCI and iPush Foundation Rights and Indemnifications

By entering the 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere contest participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless SPORTS ‘N SPOKES (PVA Publications), Wheel:Life, Life After Spinal Cord Injury (LASCI) and/or iPush Foundation its affiliates, employees, and officers from any issues, losses, or actions emanating from or in relation to the 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere Photo Contest. This would include any losses or issues related to third party claims of copyright infringement or violations of personal privacy.

All participants agree and/or acknowledge and/or consent to being contacted either by phone or email and/or physical address by third-party sponsors and/or partners for use in future promotions, articles and/or marketing campaigns. Private information collected as a result of the 2015 Get Out, Enjoy Life: Everywhere contest WILL NOT be sold or shared with parties outside the contest partnership without the prior consent of the individual.

The Get Out, Enjoy Life Photo Contest is void where prohibited by law.

Each participant in the photo contest is responsible for ensuring that he or she possesses the full rights to the photos that they are submitting. Each participant is responsible for accurately titling and describing his or her photos.

SPORTS ‘N SPOKES, Wheel:Life, LASCI and/or iPush Foundation has, at its sole discretion, reserved the right to terminate, suspend, or modify the photo contest at any time without prior notification.
