This action-packed tournament had a little bit of everything, and made for one exciting event.

Caitlin Campbell (Lakeshore Stingers) collides with Charlotte Rollin' Bobcat Jacob Tyree. Charlotte won the junior varsity matchup.
For Lakeshore Foundation, 2007 marked the twentieth time it had hosted the Pioneer Classic Wheelchair Basketball Invitational. To celebrate this milestone, some of the nation's best basketball teams descended upon Birmingham, Ala., January 12-14, to compete in the annual Pioneer Classic, presented by the BellSouth Pioneers.

"Pioneer Classic is always a big event for us, but this year it has even more meaning as we celebrate the twentieth anniversary," said Lakeshore Coordinator of Athletics and Tournament Director Patty Cornelius.

The 2007 tournament had a record-high 27 teams competing in what has become the nation's largest wheelchair basketball tournament. Participants included four women's, eight Division II, and nine youth teams; three each from the Intercollegiate Division and Division I squared off in the Division I/College Challenge.

Find out which teams came out on top and who received individual recognition.
