Florida hosted two top water-ski competitions, and the good ol' red-white-and-blue shone brightly.

• "Back in the Saddle": As a season finale for some and a stepping stone for others, the 2003 Disabled Water Ski National Championships gave athletes a chance to get “back in the saddle" and out on the water. Read about the new kids making waves, the last-minute additions to the U.S. Disabled Ski Team, and the surprising number of broken world-records.

• "Home, Sweet Home": Athletes from the U.S. broke two world records and won 32 individual medals during the 2003 Disabled Water Ski World Championships, held at Cranes Roost in Altamonte Springs, Fla. But that was nothing. Just ask U.S. Disabled Water Ski Team members about the thrill of winning team gold.

In the nationals, Joe Ray was one of three U.S. athletes to win world overall titles, also earning his second consecutive MP2 world slalom title.
As a result of his outstanding performance at the nationals, Steve Hornsey was added to the U.S. Disabled Water Ski Team, helping his team take top honors in that event.
