If disaster strikes, are you ready?

Terrorism threats, fire and medical emergencies, and natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, severe storms, and floods will probably touch many of us. The mottos of the Boy Scouts (Be Prepared) and the U.S. Marines (Semper Fi) apply to everyday life, whether we are able-bodied or have disabilities.

In the June 2003 PN/Paraplegia News, three articles provide information that may be new to youor a good review:

Be Ready, by Thomas Franks, offers a seven-point safety strategy.
The Best Defense, by Jennifer Warner, tells how to be prepared in case of building explosions and chemical, biological, or nuclear attack.
Resources for People With Disabilities lists available publications on disaster preparation.

Remember, it is always a good idea to plan ahead!
