Star-Spangled Honor

Performing the national anthem for public events has been both nerve-racking and rewarding for these wheelchair users.

From Veterans Day to countless sporting events around the country, you’re going to hear The Star-Spangled Banner sung or played quite a bit this month. Few songs hold as much meaning and tradition as the national anthem, but for a few individuals the piece strikes a truly personal chord. 

Rick Stang, Dave Whalen and Rusty Taylor have each performed the national anthem for large crowds at various events and ceremonies, from baseball and hockey games to the National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) Annual Convention. And each experience was an opportunity for them to showcase their unique musical styles.
