An idea from a meeting in 1997 is finally coming to fruition with this memorial to honor living and deceased disabled veterans in Washington, D.C. A dedication for the The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial takes place Oct. 5 with a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. and the site remaining open until 3 p.m. A star-shaped fountain accompanied by a reflecting pool is surrounded by etched glass panels featuring photos and quotes from disabled veterans.
