The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) released a GI Bill Comparison Tool to help veterans, service members and dependents easily calculate Post-9/11 GI Bill Benefits and choose VA approved educational institutions and training programs.

The Comparison Tool is now available online in response to an executive order from President Obama stating the need for agencies to promote “Principles of Excellence” for education by ensuring veterans, service members and dependents have the information they need to make a decision regarding their education benefits. Beyond calculating eligibility for benefits, the tool can help with decisions on a career, provide information on approved schools, help with the application for benefits, provide educational counseling and help find employment.

“We are pleased that Post-9/11 Veterans are taking advantage of this significant benefit program,” says Under Secretary for Benefits Allison A. Hickey in a press release. “The new GI Bill Comparison Tool will help future beneficiaries as they make decisions about what education or training program best fits their needs.”

The VA is working on a series of similar tools in compliance with this order, including the recently added GI Bill complaint system. Also online, the tool allows users to provide feedback on any problems they are experiencing with receiving funding from benefits programs for education.
