Some good golf in July helped raise more than $15,000 for PVA’s Mission: ABLE campaign.

The Hertz Company’s Hertz for Heroes initiative raised $16,140 by donating specific amounts for distinguishing play during the PGA Tour’s Greenbrier Classic over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

“These funds are critical to help maintain the programs that help support paralyzed veterans and their families to live full and successful lives,” says David Zurfluh, PVA national vice president.

The initiative offered a charitable contribution to PVA: $10 for every birdie, $50 for every eagle and $500 for every hole-in-one recorded during the 2013 Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia.

Golfers scored 1,494 birdies, 14 eagles and one hole-in-one at the classic.

PVA’s Mission: ABLE campaign helps paralyzed veterans rebuild their lives and receive the care, benefits and job services they need and deserve.
