The trophy case for Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) member and Paralympic shooter Eric Hollen is probably getting a bit crowded.

Hollen is the USA Shooting Paralympic Athlete of the Year for the second straight time (2010, 2011). The Special Forces veteran was accepted into USA Shooting in 2004 shortly after sustaining a spinal-cord injury in a tractor accident on his horse farm in Tennessee.

A bronze medalist at the 2011 International Paralympic Committee World Cup in Sydney, Hollen now has his sights set on gold at the London Paralympics.

“Any opportunity to represent your country is huge,” says Hollen. “If I do my job well right now, everything should fall into place.”

Until a friend introduced him to PVA, Hollen wasn’t aware of many programs for veterans. He coached shooters at the 2010 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Denver and also took part in bowling and 9-ball.

Though currently focusing on the Paralympics, Hollen hopes to obtain a master’s of social work with a military focus.
