In his column in the August 2002 PN/Paraplegia News, clinical psychologist Stanley H. Ducharme, Ph.D., states that in his work as a psychologist and sex therapist, he has often been distressed by the lack of information available to people with disabilities regarding AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Seldom is such information provided at any time during the rehab process, Ducharme says, and many individuals with disabilities seem to express a lack of concern and are apathetic about the dangers of contracting STDs.
